Иногда желание покрасоваться уводит красавиц-актрис в дебри безвкусицы и китча. Sometimes the desire to show off leads the beautiful actresses in the jungle of bad taste and kitsch. Знаменитости в нарядах, выходящих далеко за рамки хорошего вкуса - чрезмерно глубокие декольте, слишком смелые разрезы, чересчур прозрачные платья и прочие наглядные оскорбления общественной морали. Celebrities in costumes that go far beyond good taste - too deep cleavage, too bold cuts, too transparent dresses, and other visual insulting public morals.

Jump to: navigation, searchIn the early 1960s, as Israelis were being exposed for the first time to the shocking testimonies of Holocaust "survivors" at the trial of Adolf Eichmann, a series of pornographic pocket books called Stalags, based on Holocaust themes, became best sellers throughout the land.
Fapped to by generations of Israeli 13 year old boys, the books told amazing stories of captured American pilots being raped by sadistic female SS officers outfitted with whips and boots. The plot often ended with heroic Jewish death camp escapees saving the day by rescuing the pilots, and raping and killing the SS officers.
The Stalags, a uniquely Hebrew concoction of Nazism, sex and violence, are re-emerging in the public eye, with a rekindled debate about Holocaust history, and whether it is reasonable to continue using materials with such sexual perversion and voyeurism in the Israeli high school curriculum.
[edit] Also in cinema
The popularity of the Stalag books in the 1960s and '70s led several Israeli and Israeli-American film directors to make films based on these themes. As Italy was widely known to be the cheapest place to make films at that time (hence all the "spaghetti Westerns"), the directors naturally went there to create a fantastic bunch of movies.
[edit] An example
For example, in Gestapo's Last Orgy, some of the highlights include a dinner table scene where high ranking Gestapo officers dine on dead Jew flesh; a menstruating woman is fed to bloodthirsty Dobermans; there's a slideshow featuring shit-eating and mother/daughter incest; a violent gymnasium orgy; a woman traipsing around in panties made of human hair; and a sexy scene of a Jewish woman giving a blow job to a midget.

Maryville HS allows Rival Player Matt Ziesel to Score A Touchdown!
Down 46-0, St. Joseph's Benton High School’s FB coach Dan McCamy ran over to the defensive coach of Maryville HS with a strange request- let one of his players score a touchdown. So with 10 seconds left, Matt Ziesel, a freshman with Downs Syndrome, ran the ball 60 yards down the sideline for his first touchdown. Touching story....Way to Go Maryville!!!!

Very different formulas for feeling good ... records by the Boo Radleys and the Pixies
Startling news from the world of science: a psychologist has apparently found the formula for the perfect pop song. The aptly-named Dr Tomas Chamorro-Premuzic, who lectures at Goldsmiths, says the holy grail perennially sought by the likes of Simon Cowell can be expressed as P + Pos + T + BPM + I = S (where P = Pitch, Pos = the % of positive lyrics, T=Tonality, BPM = Beats per Minute, I = Images/Memories associated with the music, S = Serotonin level).Quite apart from the fact that such stories generally prove to be bad science, as documented by Ben Goldacre, this impressive bit of algebra immediately loses most of its credibility when you learn that such maths declares Wake Up Boo! by the Boo Radleys to be the very pinnacle of pop perfection.
The scientists did not measure my serotonin levels when listening to this record, which I've always found to be a complete abomination, I fear - precisely because it strains so obviously after a rather queasy idea of perfect pop. Dr Chamorro-Premuzic refers to film music's capacity to intensify mood, and this song always reminds me of those coercively "life-affirming" moments at the end of Hollywood movies where the starchy old patriarch finally recognises his son's great talent for breakdancing, or somesuch, the strings swell and your feelings are bullied into a kitschy crescendo. If you don't blow your groceries first.
We all have different ears, of course, and Wake Up Boo! (described by Chamorro-Premuzic as "three minutes of feelgood therapy") may sound great to some people. But the other important thing to point out is that even if feeling good is the point of pop music, there are many different ways it can deliver such uplift - sometimes by consoling your melancholy, sometimes by affirming your right to be in a really foul mood.
A case in point, none of whose releases make the Chamorro-Premuzic list, is the output of independent label 4AD - poised to celebrate a quarter-century of successful leftfield releases.
Despite a strong visual identity across its artwork, 4AD's output is very various - from the swirling, florid guitarscapes of the Cocteau Twins to the jazz-grunge of Nick Cave's Birthday Party - but the good feelings on offer from its roster have never been of the "hullo birds, hullo sky" variety exemplified by Wake Up Boo! (This, remember, is the label which once briefly succeeded in making the Bulgarian female voice choirs highly fashionable, with La Mystere des Voix Bulgares.) And 4AD is not all about fringe or "cult" music - the Pixies were a 4AD band, and M/A/R/R/S's number one Pump up the Volume was also on the label.
The dismaying thing about Chamorro-Premuzic's research is the idea that pop music should work like soma in Aldous Huxley's Brave New World - a zombiefying source of serotonin working to keep us all in place as quiet drones. Thankfully, as the ongoing success of mavericks like 4AD shows, the research is as empty of meaning as the lyrics to most "feelgood" pop songs.

BBC - View from the South Bank: Spelling out the lossesSpelling out the losses
Pauline McLean | 10:29 UK time, Thursday, 17 September 2009
It's been a sad week with the loss of three cultural innovators in as many days.
First, snake-hipped dance god Patrick Swayze, then the man who invented the whole TV chef trend, Keith Floyd, and now the screen writer Troy Kennedy Martin.
The Glasgow-born writer created some of the most classic work on British television over the last few decades - everything from Z Cars to Edge of Darkness.
He was also known for his writing in cinema - in particular, his screenplay for the Italian Job.
And more recently Red Heat, which he co-wrote for Arnold Schwarzengger.
Z-Cars, which he wrote before he was even 30, revolutionised television in the 1960s with a gritty realism which hadn't been attempted before.
He claimed to have the idea of a police series set in patrol cars in the north of England while ill with mumps and listening to real police patrols on VHF radio.
Although he was one of a team of writers on the show, it was he who was credited with its creation, he held the copyright and he got paid a fee for every episode.
He also brought the series to an end in 1978, writing the final episode in which some of the best known characters returned.
In 1985, he wrote Edge of Darkness, a chilling thriller about a nuclear conspiracy in which Bob Peck played a policeman investigating his daughter's murder.
Again, he broke new ground by demanding to be able to write up to the wire, allowing him to include contemporary references and avoid any interference from his paymasters.
It's a way of writing current screenwriters can only dream of and for Kennedy Martin, it was also a short-lived period of freedom.
I spoke to him a few times on the phone, usually about an obituary for one of his many screenwriting friends and colleagues.
Among them John McGrath, who worked with him in the BBC script editors department in the 1960s.
He was always charming and helpful, with an encylopaedic knowledge of British television.
And a writer of his calibre - and a Scot to boot - would have been equally dismayed at the demise of another great Scottish literary institution.
Chambers, who've been publishing their dictionaries in Edinburgh since 1819, will now close their offices in the capital with the loss of 27 jobs.
The dictionary - famous among Scrabble players for including a wider spread of eclectic words than some other dictionaries, will still be published but only in London.
The use of online spell checks has been blamed for the downturn in business.
While the telephone directories and piles of back issues of newspapers may no longer clutter your average newsroom, I'm one of a handful of Luddites who still likes to keep a dictionary, a thesaurus and a few good grammar books to hand.
Too bad there are fewer and fewer of us around.
Rock legend Hendrix dies after party - What Next? ELVIS
BBC ON THIS DAY | 18 | 1970: Rock legend Hendrix dies after party
Jimi Hendrix created a revolutionary new sound for electric guitar music
In Context A coroner recorded an open verdict on the death of Jimi Hendrix. The inquest heard he had taken nine sleeping pills but there was no evidence of drug addiction.
The guitarist's father, Al Hendrix, a landscape gardener, was the sole beneficiary of the will, estimated to be worth in the region of $500,000.
He set up a company, Experience Hendrix, with the aim of preserving his son's musical legacy.
On his death in 2002, the company was inherited by his step-daughter Janie. But Jimi's brother Leon claimed he had been unfairly written out of the will and launched a lawsuit in 2004 to try to overturn it.
In 2003 a survey by the Rolling Stone magazine named Jimi Hendrix the greatest guitarist in rock history.

Philosophers or whatever: Paris Hilton and Chinese thinker Confucius (right)
![]()
She is famous for her love of short skirts and small dogs - not for her wit or wisdom.
But Paris Hilton has somehow joined the ranks of the quotable notables.
The hotel heiress makes a surprise appearance in the latest edition of the Oxford Dictionary of Quotations.
Her pithy observation: 'Dress cute wherever you go, life is too short to blend in', will stand alongside words from luminaries such as Oscar Wilde and Stephen Hawking.
Paris's saying is one of more than 20,000 new quotations to enter the seventh edition of the prestigious tome published today.
Another new entry is from former U.S. vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin, who said: 'What's the difference between a hockey mom and a pitbull? Lipstick.'
Others come from the likes of British authors Terry Pratchett and Philip Pullman, Stephen Hawking, Aung San Suu Kyi and late comedy host and jazzman Humphrey Lyttelton.
Some are not as new as they seem. Barack Obama's contribution, 'The arc of history is long but it bends towards justice', is similar to one used by Martin Luther King in 1968.
The dictionary, which is in its 65th year, has also added several 'new' quotes from the distant past, such as one from Confucius, the 5th century BC Chinese philosopher.
This may be because they have been used or referenced by others in recent years or that the researchers have, after decades, managed to source and verify them as genuine.
Some have taken on new relevance, such as former U.S. president Thomas Jefferson's: 'Banking establishments are more dangerous than standing armies', uttered 200 years ago.
The dictionary's editor-Elizabeth Knowles, said: 'Events may give an older utterance very topical significance - for example, Thomas Jefferson has for obvious reasons been quoted quite widely in the last year.'
She added that other quotes from the past sometimes become familiar to new audiences because of the internet. 'Anything quoted today, verbally or "written" in electronic-form, can be and probably will be encountered by people all over the globe,' she said.
'As more data is added to online sources, more voices from the past find a route to us today. The new edition of the dictionary reflects the impact of these changes.'
Tony Blair could perhaps do with a copy of the dictionary in his Christmas stocking. He made an embarrassing error on television in the U.S. this week by wrongly attributing a famous quote to either Winston Churchill or Oscar Wilde.
The line: 'England and America are two countries divided by a common language,' was actually said by playwright George Bernard Shaw. Mr Blair was appearing on the David Letterman show.

A chocolate theme park?
It may sound too good to be true, but a Willy Wonka-style chocolate theme park is about to open in Beijing.
The world chocolate dream park will feature exhibitions with imitation Ming Dynasty porcelain cups made entirely of the sweet stuff, and life-size Terracotta Warriors that are good enough to eat.
It will open in the Olympic Green near the Bird's Nest on Jan 29, adding another sweet layer to the famous Olympic Games venue.
Tina Cheng, general manager of Beijing-based Artsource Planning Co Ltd, which will operate the park, said visitors will be offered a full chocolate experience and be able to see, touch, taste and smell the delicacy.
The park will contain five pavilions and two outdoor sites where chocolate-made objects will be on display, including chocolate versions of famous paintings and even the Great Wall.
Master chocolatiers will run chocolate making courses and sweet tooths will be able to make purchases to take home.
"Our 'chocolate wonderland' will be beyond the imagination," Cheng told Metro.
Plans for the theme park are sure to evoke memories of the film Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, based on the book by Roald Dahl.
In the film, Charlie is introduced to Willy Wonka's workshop where there were edible flowers and a chocolate river.
Su Yan, from the Olympic Park Organizing Committee, said between 10,000 and 20,000 visitors are expected to visit the theme park every day.
Cheng said there is a growing fascination with chocolate among young Chinese and this was one of the reasons she wanted to open the park.
"None of my friends, including myself, could resist the temptation of chocolate," Cheng said.
She said a number of prestigious chocolate makers from Europe, including Belgium, Switzerland and Italy wanted to join the project, but she declined to reveal their names or any details yet.
"There is the potential for a huge market in China in regards to chocolate consumption," she said.
"That's why many overseas chocolate producers are vying to joining our project."

By Mark Savage
Entertainment reporter, BBC News
Bon Jovi have sold more than 120m albums worldwideRocker Jon Bon Jovi says he understands why Nirvana's former members protested over the use of Kurt Cobain's image in video game Guitar Hero 5.
Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl said last week they were "very disappointed" that Cobain's avatar could be used to play songs by other acts in the game.
"I don't know that I would have wanted it either," Jon Bon Jovi told the BBC.
"To hear someone else's voice coming out of a cartoon version of me? I don't know. It sounds a little forced."
Guitar Hero 5 entered the UK games charts at number one last weekend, beating its heavily-promoted rival, The Beatles: Rock Band.
The late Nirvana frontman features as an unlockable character, allowing players to see his image performing a multitude of other tracks, including Bon Jovi's You Give Love A Bad Name.
'Breach of contract'
In a joint statement last week, Grohl and Novoselic said they "didn't know" Cobain's image would be used in this way.
"We are dismayed and very disappointed in the way a facsimile of Kurt is used in the Guitar Hero game".
The pair also urged game makers Activision to "do the right thing in 're-locking' Kurt's character".
Guitar Hero allows players to recreate rock riffs on replica instrumentsActivision said permission to use Cobain's image had been granted by the singer's estate.
The company said Cobain's widow, Courtney Love, had provided a written agreement which allowed the singer's likeness as a fully playable character in the fifth game of the series.
Writing on Twitter, Love claimed she had "never signed" a contract on the game, and threatened legal action against Activision.
"For the record, this... is breach of contract on a bully's part and there will be a proper addressing of this and retraction," she wrote.
Jon Bon Jovi, who is promoting his band's 11th studio album, The Circle, said he had declined the offer to appear as a playable character in Guitar Hero.
"I had the paperwork, they wanted me to be on that game and I just passed," he said.
"But no-one even broached the subject with me that I would be singing other people's stuff. I don't know how I would have reacted to that. I don't know that I would have wanted it either."

5 solar eclipses
1980 Eclipse
Having witnessed 5 solar eclipses, one of which was a totality - over a period of 14 years, and having read about the one from 1980, I am going to try and chronicle how the eclipse viewing has changed over the past 29 years.
The photo at the top shows a normally busy income tax office square in an Indian city bereft of any people during the eclipse of 1980.
1980 1996 2009 TV Showed a movie to keep people indoors Showed a live telecast of the eclipse Let people just watch on their own, nothing special People Stayed indoors mostly. Forgotten Media Newspaper Newspaper / TV Newspaper / TV / Web / Flickr Astrologers Spreading doomsday Spreading doomsday Spreading doomsday
In 1980, the eclipse was watched in 15 eclipse camps - it was a first in 82 years. Some interesting news items from that time:
- No let up in rituals. Normally people try to ward off the harmful effects of the eclipse by putting pieces of ‘Durva’ into food items like milk, butter, ghee and drinking water.
- With the repeated warnings of all the mass media still ringing in their ears, the elite class didn’t not date to have a direct look at the eclipsed sun.
- ‘It was simply beautiful’ said an observer in Taita hills, Kenya. ‘We had 3 minutes 50 seconds of totality’. ‘The elders say we should go inside’ said Henry Kazungu 28, a member of the rat eating Giriama tribe. ‘But I want to stay out and see it. I want to be able to say later that this great thing happened in this year and I was there’.
Some news items from the 1995 eclipse:
- The council of astrologers: “The sun signifies the rulers. Thus in the region where the total solar eclipse will be visible the heads of the governments will be adversely affected.”
- With barely three days left for the solar eclipse, a serious controversy among scientists and ophthalmologists has put the West Bengal government in a quandary and the people in a fix.
- One publication showed a photo of an elephant at Yamuna Ghat waiting patiently for the sun to be freed from its lunar embrace so that it could have a holy dip.
- Unlike in 1980, millions of people watched the event last fortnight, turning it into a mass science festival.
From 2006:
- Schoolchildren clapped and cheered as the first total eclipse in years plunged Ghana into daytime darkness, a solar show sweeping northeast from Barzil to Mangolia.
In 2009, the clincher was a photo in one of the national dailies showing the bathing sadhus wearing solar goggles and watching the eclipse. Flickr also made a world of difference: we could see various cultures in various countries trying to watch the eclipse, and interpreting it in their own ways.
